Vision and Mission Statements
A well thought out Vision and Mission statements were clearly drawn as follows:
- Unify into a solid body all proprietors of Muslim Schools with a view to taking their rightful place in the educational affairs of the country.
- Deal with the Government or Governments on behalf of its members on any matter concerning the educational policy of the country and also on all questions affecting the general welfare and progress of the Muslim Community on matters of education.
- Undertake generally other matters that may tend to promote the educational development of the country.
- Establish and maintain educational institutions in furtherance of the foregoing aims and objectives.
The organization shall be known and called “The Council of Muslim School Proprietors” and shall here- in-after be referred to as “THE COUNCIL”.
Our organizations have done creditably for the past five decades of our existence especially in the different states in which our member organizations have established schools. The schools belonging to our member organizations can be found in the South-West, North-Central and most of the Northern States of the country. As an umbrella body, we also established two Muslim Teacher Training Colleges at Surulere, Lagos and Oru-Ijebu, Ogun State.
At a meeting held on the 14th August, 1955, it was decided that the Council should open Teacher Training Colleges for Elementary and Higher Elementary Teacher’s Certificate. The College was to be financed by the Council. To meet the cost of the project, a special contribution of 200 pounds per member organization was raised for acquisition of 47.44 acres of land at Oru-Ijebu for boy’s College and 50 acres of land at Abeokuta for girl’s College. The Council duly obtained Deeds of Conveyance for the properties from the vendors.
In 1961, the Council of Muslim School Proprietors formally commenced the running of the Muslim Teacher Training College, Oru-Ijebu after completion of its structures. Unfortunately however, following the abrogation of Teacher Training Colleges across the country in 1978/79, the then Military Government of Ogun State encroached upon Muslim Teacher Training College, Oru-Ijebu and used for about two decades as a Refugees Camp without paying anything to the Council. Since then, the Council had initiated several moves to reclaim the school until June, 2010 when the premises was formally returned to the Council via a letter dated 7th June, 2010 and signed by Alhaji A. F. A. Opebiyi, Permanent Secretary, (Service Matters), Ogun State. Suffice it to say that physical possession remained elusive due to the continuous stay by some squatters still parading themselves as Liberian refugees and others from the sub-region. Suffice it again to say that the long use of the premises by the refugees had overstretched the facilities with no conscious effort made to properly maintain the facilities. The resultant effect is that a lot of damage was done to structures and facilities which require a comprehensive rehabilitation.
The Council of Muslim School Proprietors is an umbrella organization of the following twelve Muslim School Proprietors of primary and secondary schools across the country:

ACTIVITIES OF THE COUNCIL
The planned use of the Oru-Ijebu land after taking possession
The Council, in conjunction with the Ogun State Muslim Council, Ijebu Zone resolved to establish a tertiary institution. The initial proposal was to establish a Muslim University of Science and Technology but giving the the capital intensive nature of a university project, a Technical College of Education with emphasis on Agriculture was finally agreed as a prelude to the establishment of a university at a later date. In addition to the College of Education, a Muslim School of Nursing shall run side by side which shall be done through a joint venture with an investor/professional. The available space and facilities are quite sufficient for the take off of the two institutions.
Hopefully, with the support of the local community, the six Local Government Areas of Ogun State which constitute Ijebu Zone and of course, the donor agencies in and around the world, the two educational programmes are realistic and achievable In Sha Allah.
